Intact Solutions and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) entered a multi-year cooperative research agreement focused on developing accurate and efficient path-level thermal simulation of metal additive manufacturing processes and its application to part and process qualification. Intact’s ability to perform simulation on native geometric and material representations allows unprecedented flexibility in resolving physically relevant details at the manufacturing path level, while scalable efficiency of simulation allows application of the technology to realistically complex plans and components. The project goals include quantitative assessment, calibration, and validation of the simulation technology, as well as its deployment for predicting quality of the additively manufactured components.
