Table of Contents
View Results
The View Results display is only available after the simulation has run and contains three main tabs: Results, Physics, and Materials.
Results
The results tab contains controls to explore and share the results of your simulation.
To see different solution fields, use the Solution Field drop down menu. The solution fields are as follows:
- Danger Level (Inverse Safety Factor)
- The danger level is defined as the stress borne by the object divided by the yield stress of the object. More simply, the danger level field illustrates where structural failure is most likely, based on geometry, load conditions, and material properties.
- Total Displacement
- Total displacement shows how much the object moves from its original position
- von Mises Stress
- von Mises Stress is defined as Force divided by Area. In practical terms, it is the amount of force that a section of material can withstand before yielding.
- X Displacement
- Displacement in the X-direction
- Y Displacement
- Displacement in the Y-direction
- Z Displacement
- Displacement in the Z-direction
Analyze Results
To find numerical values of displacements or stresses at a particular location, hold [shift] and click on the desired location of the model.
Displacement and stress values can also be visually inspected by selecting the desired “solution property” from the pull down menu. The following solution properties are currently available on Intact.design:
- X Displacement
- Y Displacement
- Z Displacement
- Total Displacement
- Von Mises Stress
The “Deform” slider can be used to visualize how the object is deforming. Oftentimes, the actual displacements are too small to see so the “Apply scaling factor to displacements” box should be checked to exaggerate the deformation to a visible level.
Sharing Results
A shareable link is automatically generated for each simulation scenario. Anyone with this link can access the results of the simulation. The “Export Video” button automatically creates a short animation of the results that can be shared and saved.
Scenario Details
The second tab– “Scenario Details”– located on the “View Results” display allows the user to review the conditions they provided during Simulation Setup. The user can review what material was assigned to each part and the loads that were placed on the object. The “Show Loads and Restraints” box can be checked to visibly show these conditions on the model. The loads are shown with arrows while the restrained surfaces are colored black. This setting can be especially useful when a quick simulation scenario was applied.
