• I'd like to see the material properties for a supported material in the pull down list. Where can I find this information?
  A full list of Intact.design's supported materials and their material properties can be found on this spreadsheet. To learn what each of the listed properties means, see Supported Materials.
• Can I use different materials for parts in an assembly?
  Yes, Intact.design offers a Set Multiple Materials feature which allows you to set a different material for each part in the assembly. See Assemblies for more information.
• Are custom materials and orthotropic materials available on Intact.design?
  These features are currently not available on Intact.design. If these features are important, try our desktop version, Scan&Solve which contains both of these features.

• What file types does Intact.design accept?
  You can import STL, PLY, .off, .3ds, OBJ, DXF, and VRML files directly to Intact.design. Files can also be imported through Onshape, so any solid model file format that Onshape accepts can be analyzed in Intact.design. See Uploading Files for more information.
• I can't find my Onshape file when trying to import to Intact. What's wrong?
  Intact.design requires a solid model for analysis. If you do not see your model in the import window, chances are it is not a solid model. Return to the Onshape creator studio and fix the model.
• Is there a way to visualize the "mesh of space" that encloses the solid for analysis?
  Yes, Intact.design allows you to visualize the solution grid by selecting the checkbox [Show Basis Functions] in the Simulation Setup window. Note that changing the resolution of the solution grid while the grid is visible can be performance intensive.
• Can Intact.design perform thin shell analysis, say for very thin plastics?
  The answer depends on the available resolution. Intact.design uses “solid” elements to model the physical behavior of the models undergoing analysis. Large thin structures such as thin plates and membranes will generally show qualitatively correct behavior; however, limits on available memory and computation time will hinder detailed analysis in Intact.design.

• How do I know what loads and restraints are being applied with one of the quick scenarios?
  See Quick Scenarios for descriptions of the 6 scenarios. You can also review what loads and restraints were applied after solving by clicking the [Show Loads and Restraints] check box on the Scenario Details tab in the View Results window.
• Can I apply more than one of the quick scenarios?
  The six quick scenarios are designed to setup a common, easily recognizable scenario in seconds. If you'd like to apply more than one load type to your model, use the Advanced option.
• Can I apply a combination of different loads to a face?
  Yes. With the Advanced feature, any number or combination of loads may be applied to any faces of the solid.
• How can I quickly select multiple faces to restrain?
  Simply hold [Shift] while dragging your mouse across the model. Any surfaces that were dragged over will be selected.
• Are climatic loads such as rain, snow, or wind supported?
  Presently, there is no way to input these specific types of loads. However, it is possible to simulate the effects of such weather events using directional loads or pressures. For example, wind loads may be simulated using pressure, and snow loads may be simulated using a vector force equivalent to a certain depth of snow. However, this only simulates the forces, not the climatic effects on materials.

• Does using the Deform slider show what would really happen to the solid under the conditions specified?
  The Deform Slider dramatically magnifies the actual deformation, and is used for visualization purposes only. The numbers and colors reflect the real results.
• How can I find the maximum or minimum value of a solution property?
  The max value can be found on the right side of the color scale and the min value is on the left side.
• Can I see a numerical value of the solution at a point?
  Yes. Simply hold [shift] and click on the model at the location you'd like to examine. The following result values are displayed: the coordinates of the position selected, the displacement values at that position in each of the principal directions, and the Von Mises Stress.
• How can I export my results?
  There is a shareable link provided on the Simulation Results tab that can be copied and sent to anyone you'd like to see your results. You can also download a short video showing the current solution property and a deformation animation of the object.
• I want to analyze a solution property not listed. How can I get these results?
  The standard version of Intact.design only provides solutions for the properties listed in the pull down menu. If you commonly need another solution type, contact us at info@intact-solutions.com for a customizable enterprise plan, or try out our desktop version, Scan&Solve Pro, which offers many more solution properties.

• What types of Intact.design licenses are available for purchase?
  Intact.design will allow 5 free simulations to test the software before deciding on purchasing. The standard software plan costs $60/month and can be bought here. We also offer an enterprise plan. Contact us at info@intact-solutions.com for more information and pricing.
